Born 1944

Graduated from Cal Poly University at Pomona California
B.S. in Animal Science 1967.
Post graduate studies continued there in Zoology.

Early in life - influenced by Look, Life and National Geographic magazines.

Began shooting 35mm film in 1961.
1982 started building a body of images with a large format (4x5) camera.

Most influential to my photography have been:
Ansel Adams for the technical aspects of photography and inspiration; Thomas Moran for compositions; Eliot Porter for the dynamic and lyrical use of color. The rich and diverse community of landscape and abstract photographers has always been inspiring. Last, but not least, is the lifelong friendship and shared field experiences with my brother - artist and professional photographer, Bill Timmerman.

I live in Jackson, Wyoming with my wife Shirley and continue to photograph in the American West, especially in the National Parks which have had a significant influence on my life. Current portfolios include Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone and Additional Places.
